Were all taught at a young age that when you try and try your hardest, anything you desire might be achieved. This statement for the most part is true but in one quick decision all of your hard work can be easily thrown away. Pushed down, deep into the recesses of your conscience in the same area where regret, guilt, and shame reside; this can all happen in one swift (usually ill-advised) choice, the choice to give up—or quit. In Barbara Graham’s essay “Confessions of a Quit Addict” she describes her adventures in quitting; where it took her, and how it shaped her to be the person she came to be. Through personal experience I too know what it is like to be a quitter and not live up to expectations, and also how to learn from mistakes.…
Are you a smoker? Do you know anyone who smokes and struggles with quitting smoking? I am credible to explain the process of quitting the bad habit of smoking because I myself was a smoker for five years and quit “cold turkey.” The first thing you must acknowledge when deciding to quit smoking is to quit for your own good and not for your girlfriend or your parents. The second step would be to rethink the advantages and disadvantages of smoking. At last, the final step to quitting smoking is to stay strong and consistent to your decision.…

By focusing on helping the patient stop smoking, it will help decrease the client’s risk for coronary artery disease (CAD), it will help prevent the likelihood of another cerebrovascular accident (CVA) or stroke, and it will help decrease her hypertension/high blood pressure, as well as reduce the likelihood of that she will have another syncope episode. The client is also currently on perindopril erbumine to manage her coronary artery disease. This assessment of the client shows that around half of her symptoms are caused by smoking, and that the clients’ cessation of smoking will help increase her overall health. According to Kelley, Sherrod and Smyth (2009), “Smokers have a greater than two-to-four-fold chance of developing cardiovascular disease than non-smokers partly because of smoking's contribution to increased atherosclerosis” (p.…

Place strategies in the tobacco quit campaign are intended to either make tobacco products less available to the general population or make help more accessible to those trying to quit. This strategy includes several tactics intended to focus into different populations: first we have active smokers wanting to quit, for those help needs to be easily accessible; second we have nonsmokers whose need to be protected from secondhand smoke; third we have the underage kids who not only need to be protected from the harmful events of tobacco but also need to understand that using tobacco products is not cool; the last group is composed by active smokers not intending to quit but that need to understand that their actions have effects in others.…
Mermilstein published an article about the increase in teen smoking cessation .This study was based on a cognitive behavioral skills training, motivational interviewing of a sample of 566 American female and male teens. Though there are multiple strategies in order to help the teens. These strategies demonstrate diversity; there are strategies for all ages, genders, ethnicities, etc. Though the results were not what the researchers were expecting, they show a promising future to come for teens.…
It is generally accepted that smoking is bad for health. However, it is pity that rather than putting a ban on it. The government instead is imposing even higher taxes on it. This is simply because first of all banning tobacco, cigarettes would mean that these products will also lead to a loss of revenue in form of Excise duty and VAT tax for the government, and unemployment for lakhs.…
