Snapchat Analysis
Professor,

This week, Snapchat had multiple articles in the Wall Street Journal. My favorite, was from Monday, February 6, 2017, and was within the Business and Finance section of the Printed edition. The article was titled, "How Millennials Are Turning Snapchat Into the New TV". The article begins by stating that Snapchat's main competitors, in terms of messaging apps, are companies such as Google, Apple, and Facebook. However, Snapchat has yet to list competitors within the media industry that the company sees as competitors. Companies such as Fox and Viacom are not listed. It is starting to become apparent to many users, even myself, that Snapchat has blossomed into such more than a traditional messaging app. Snapchat is now becoming a

I agree with the innovative ways of Snapchat. I personally find myself spending more time on Snapchat than watching TV. Before reading this article, I did not even realize that in a way I have begun to associate Snapchat in the same category as TV. The fact that Snapchat has been able to make such a deep change within the lives of people within my generation, likely without many of us even realizing it, is astonishing. Snapchat is clearly being tenacious as the company is very determined to grip tight on the media industry as they have so clearly already dominated the messaging app industry. In my opinion, this can be seen through messaging apps such as Facebook and Instagram, now having options that copy Snapchat's innovative functions, such as submitting stories. This week we are on the topic of aggressiveness and tenacity. As I scan through the Wall Street Journal week after week, I am constantly seeing great things from this company that certainly fit this week's topic. Snapchat is so innovative and so self-aware, that the company is clearly defining what the consumer wants. As discussed in class, other companies such as Google and Amazon have taken similar actions. I would not be surprised if Snapchat does not stop here and continues

The average person encounters more than 600 advertisements per day through an expanding variety of media. As GEICO’s V.P. of Advertising, I understand that choices must be made. We simply can not afford to make mistakes. Our ads need to be effective. The basic premise is that we want our ads to be noticed and memorable resulting in action taken by the consumer. A creative brief has been designed and will be utilized as a ‘road map’ in helping us answer two important questions – One “Who are we talking to?” and Two “What do we want to say?”…

All kids talk about today is Snapchat. Snapchat is a social media app where you can post pictures to express you emotions and show what you are doing at the moment. Although Snapchat sounds like a fun app, there is a darkside to the app. Well some downsides about the app is that teenagers use Snapchat for sexting, and distracts the teenager from the rest of the world. The app also lacks responsibility for it’s users security because hackers can easily track someone from using Snapchat. A topic that is being discussed through parents is that if their teenager should have Snapchat. I believe that teens should not have Snapchat. Even if the pictures gets deleted after 10 seconds, it will always stay online.…

Over the past 10 years social media has become a part of our everyday live. From MySpace to Instagram just about everyone is only one degree of separation from social media. What was once just a source to stay in touch with long lost friends and family has evolved into a place for marketing, customer and product research, networking, informal learning, and real time interaction with peer’s and colleagues. Initially business only used social media for marketing and an avenue to reach out to their target market. However some organizations have found it essential to utilize this new technology to its full potential. In an article entitled Social Learning authors Matt Allen and Jennifer Naughton have conducted studies done to address how social media can and should be integrated into the business world. Allen and Naughton say’s “Baby Boomers are retiring, and predictions are that by 2014, half of the workforce will be Millennial. They have grown up using technology and expect it to be part of how they work. And, increasing numbers of individuals are adopting it.” (Allen, M., & Naughton, J.2011) Because social media apps are intergraded with just about every piece of technology the millennial generation have become accustom to using it daily.…

Evan Spiegel went to Crossroad School for Arts and Sciences in Santa Monica, where he would spend his weekends exploring the art of Photoshop. He did end up going to Stanford University for product design which eventually lead to Spiegel entering the Kappa Sigma fraternity where he met co-founder of Snapchat that eventually went on to create the Billion Dollar smart phone app that teens are talking about. We can infer that the project of Snapchat was created through a passion that started from Spiegel since he was in his teenage years. Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy, co-founder of Snapchat, came up with the idea of this featured app that was originally called Picaboo. Despite how popular the app is now, it was originally shot down by many potentially…
