Soccer Compare And Contrast
Sports are a young person’s entertainment and dream. They give a person hope, excitement, and something to dream of. Two sports that have heavily influenced my life are football and soccer. Although, there are many similarities, there are also many differences between the two sports. Each sport as a season that it shines during. Soccer and football are both played during the fall. Tough sports require protection, hard work, persistence, and a competitive drive.
Every sport requires something to compete over and a way of scoring. Football has an oval shaped ball that gets thrown. Soccer has a circular ball that is not allowed to be handled by hands. Footballs get thrown, handed off, and snapped. During football each touch down counts as six points with the possibility of extra points after. A team can kick an extra point or run a two point conversion. Unlike football, soccer games require the ball to only be touched with the players’ feet unless they are the goalkeeper. Points are scored one point at a time in soccer. Both sports allow the team that scored to kick off after every scoring drive.

Some teams play six-man, eight-man, nine-man, or eleven-man. Soccer plays with eleven people on the field at a time. Football has a change of players all at one time. In most circumstances teams have defense and offense that switch on and off the field. Soccer players have offensive and defensive players on the field at the same time. Many of soccer positions require you to know how to double up as defense and offense. For example, midfielders have to be able to pass the ball or score, but they also have to be able to stop an attacking player. This makes conditioning a must because the play never

The soccer kick is the essence of association football (soccer). This move is performed in every single game of football all over the world, whether it’s professional or amateur. There are two main ways of classifying kicks in soccer; the free kick and kicks in general play. The free kick occurs when a player impedes one of the laws of the game and the opposing team are therefore awarded a ‘free kick’ without the other team touching the ball and must be a certain distance away from the ball and the player who is kicking it. The kicks in general play are very OPEN skills as there are countless different scenarios when it comes to the soccer pitch. The free kick is somewhat CLOSED because of the ball being stationary on the ground however the distance and environment is still very unpredictable. The soccer kick is a GROSS MOTOR skill as I will show further in the report almost all the muscle groups will be utilised and activated. The soccer kick is also a SERIAL skill; the run up, striking of the ball and follow through all come into play.…

The other difference is the aim of the game. While football use touchdowns to score where the defense has to use every mean to stop the competing team from scoring. In this regard, a soccer team is considered as a whole. The defense depends on the team that has the ball at a time since some of the midfielders have to be involved in defense when the competing team is having the ball. In such a scenario, midfielders of the team that is controlling the ball will be acting as an offensive. In a soccer game, players strives to score a goal while in American football, it does not use goal as a way of scoring.…

The goal in soccer is on ground, while the goal in American football is in the air. In football, each time you score is called a “touchdown” that’s worth 6 points, whereas in soccer, you only receive 1 point, which is called a “gol.” American football players must wear a helmet and body protectors, however, in soccer you are forbidden from wearing these. The second most striking difference between these two sports is the way to pass the ball. Soccer players must pass the ball by their legs, and passing by hand is not allowed for them, except the goalkeeper. He can touch it with his hand only in one area. Unlike soccer players, American football players can pass the ball by hands or…

Soccer players are extremely complete athletes; they must be able to run for 6 miles without stopping, jogging and sprinting. Soccer players must start training at a young age because how grueling it is to get in shape for it. They must have really strong core, legs, and a strong heart. Core muscles refer to obliques, abs, back, and chest. Soccer players cannot be out of shape in anyway in order to play. These muscles take years to make as strong as they need to be in order to be a great soccer player. In soccer a strong shot doesn’t just come from having those famously strong leg muscles like Beckham, but it comes from the twist from the core that creates the torque needed to have a powerful shot. The necessity of a strong core in soccer is often under rated, as well as the overall strength and physicality involved in soccer. The legs are famously strong because they tend to be large and hard to miss. However, the shoulders and core must be strong in order to push off other players while running at top speed and dribbling a soccer ball. The obviously strong body part of soccer players are their legs. Soccer players tend to be able to out lift football players in all exercises involving legs. When analysts on ESPN talk about soccer even the guys usually have something to say about the legs because of how defined and largely muscular they are. When soccer players are able to kick soccer ball…

“When I meet a European, the first thing I say is, “I’d much rather watch football than football.” But I’m just teasing them, and they know I’d really rather watch football than football.” (Jarod Kintz). Football and soccer are two very different sports but at the same time they do have some similarities. Football is very much a contact and strength sport and soccer is more of a technique sport. But football does require technique as well, and soccer requires more contact than one might think. Differences include scoring, gameplay, field size, equipment, and game length.…

Moving on to scoring, American football awards a team six points for a touchdown (carrying the ball into the opponent's end zone by running or passing and catching the ball), one point for an extra point (kicking the ball through the uprights after a touchdown), three points for a field goal (kicking the ball through the uprights) and two points for a safety (tackling a player from the other team with the ball in their own end zone). In soccer points are scored by kicking the ball into the net. The players cannot use their hands whatsoever to score or pass. The only player who can use their hands is the goalie (the player who protects the ball from making it into the net). A football field is 120 yards long, including two 10-yard deep end zones on both sides and about 30 yards wide. A soccer field can range anywhere from 100 yards to 130 yards and 50 yards to 100 yards wide.…

The first reason to play soccer over other sports is because it is more fun to play. Soccer is a fast-paced and non-stop game; therefore, it is not stopped every few plays like some sports. The game is played for forty-five minute halves and the only time play is stopped is if there is an injury. The goalkeeper is the only one that is able to use their hands when playing soccer; consequently, this makes the game more challenging.…
