First, structural-functional analysis suggests that changes with the economy and the workplace to create hardship for those whom lost their jobs. In addition, structural-functional theory also see how technology change and reshapes the economy (Macionsis, 2013, p.308). Sociological perspective on the functional theory is viewed as a macro-level, everyone contributes to how the society functions as a whole. Society has changed the way of how systems in place were ran. In fact, “structural functional analysis positioned a holt to conceive of social change (Kingsbury, 2003, para.10.)”. By contrast, this theory differs from symbolic-interaction and conflict-analysis when it comes to the relations of family, business matters for the system entirely.
Second, symbolic-interaction analysis “highlights the meanings people attach to their work, in which shapes the understanding of why people look forward to going to work (Macionsis, 2013, p. 309)”. This theory, displays how some people’s passion to their desired work. In addition, symbolic perspective focuses on how individuals interact with one another in social relations (Symbolic interactionism, 2007). Nonetheless, symbolic-interaction analysis confronts the social crunch time with one another. Furthermore, this theory see the real in the interactions in the work place. Nonetheless, by contrast this theory is not the same as structural- functional analysis, and social conflict analysis.
Third, social-conflict analysis focuses on how wealth and power shape the workplace and the inequality that comes along with it.
This theory is like structural-functional theory, as far as the level of analysis of being a macro-level (Macionsis, 2013). Furthermore, how the economy is will determine the type of jobs people can access. In addition, social-conflict theory also interpret that work place problems are a result of the disruption from the economy. In fact, “conflict is the most basic feature of social life (Conflict theory, 2001)”. Those that have the power to exploit labor workers, forcing them into lesser paying jobs. The birth of technology have made a huge impact in the workplace. Technology, slowed the way workers communicate expand in many ways (Macionsis, 2013). Finally, the sociological implications within the modern economy have been addressed. Research have gone to show that everyone must live to work, at some point in life possibly push further into careers. The environment have to survive off food, shelter, and clothing in order to sustain a living among society. Unfortunately, the way the economy is addressed is going on what is best at that time for the economy. Leaving one’s either forced to have jobs that do not want, just to pay the bills and get bye. Not only should the ones with wealth and power not be allowed to employee those for lesser paying jobs. The fairness and equal rights to all, to be able have careers that everyone would love to grow attach to, and yarn the desire to want to be at work to enjoy what they do. The 3 theories reflect on earlier, structural-functional theory, symbolic-interaction theory, and social-conflict theory; moving forward on to the impact of technology when it comes to the work place, followed with proposed ramifications behind it all.
