Social media has become popular in the society as seen today. It is a form of electronic communication which allows communities to share information, ideas and news online. It consists of a set of technologies and channels that are targeted at forming and enabling a massive community of participants to collaborate productively (Anthony 2010). Social media such as Twitter helps to connect businesses to customers in real-time and update of latest information.
With organisation in a Multinational Corporation such as Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH), social media plays an important part as it is a social instrument of communication. Singapore Press Holdings Ltd consist of two media powerhouses- Singapore Press Holdings Group and Schibsted Group. The two companies headquarter are located in Singapore and Norway that derives a quarter of its revenue respectively (Patrick 2010). Therefore social media has become a platform for global business landscape.
In this essay, an analysis of how twitter can be used to improve knowledge sharing, build social capital, support innovation and aid problem solving can be an advantage and disadvantage in SPH. 2. Singapore Press Holdings Limited
Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) is Southeast Asia’s leading media organisation that engages minds and enrich live across multiple languages and platforms. SPH published newspaper in four different languages and produces more than 100 magazine titles in Singapore and the region, covering a wide range of interest from lifestyle to information technology (Benn 2009).
Online media of SPH such as Stomp, omy.sg and The Straits Times RazorTV has become more accessible to the public. This helps to maintain people’s interest by updating of the latest news via websites.
With its mission “to inform, educate and entertain”, social media such as twitter will be an advantage to this organisation as it will be able to communicate with different departments by updating through twitter.

Customers will have the option of ordering the product online instead of driving to a store to get the same product. This a prime example of lack of continuing keeping up with technology and innovation can cause a company to hit growth trap and a result of having to close the business.…
