What is the biggest problem teenagers face today? The problem is right in front of everyone. It is a very simple problem. The problem is social media! Social media presents many problems, bullying being one of the biggest. Bullying can be started anywhere but social media makes it that much easier to start. Social media gives access to personal information about anyone. Bullies have the opportunity to access anyone they choose. Most bullies are not brave enough to bully a person to their face but will bully someone behind a computer screen any chance they get. The movie Cyber-bully shows that this is real life, bullying happens every single day. For example, one embarrassing picture is sent to a friend, then gets posted on Instagram and the bullying starts. Suicides have become more prevalent in society and have started happening more often as social media statistics have risen. Bullying is a terrible thing that could easily decrease with the stop of social media. The next problem with teens and social media is the addiction. Once addicted to anything, especially social media it becomes very hard to stop. The first move an average teen makes when they wake up in the mornings is check their social media. The last thing they do when they go to bed is check their social media. If teens are on social media this much during the day, what time does that leave them to connect with their families, have conversations with people and even do school work? Teen’s grades are not as good because social media is such a distraction. Texting while driving has become one of the biggest problems in America, especially with teens. Teens think that texting and taking pictures for social media with their cell phones while driving is so cool. Texting or on social media while driving is cool to teens until they have killed themselves or someone else while doing so.
