this system would reduce benefits and many people would suffer in the end.
“Both conservatives and liberals share common beliefs or ideologies about the nature of the social order in the United States such as its essential fairness and its open social and economic structure that allows all individuals to move up the economic ladder” (Jimenez, 2010, p. 19). The things that divide them are, a conservative wants things to be the way they were in the past, never change. Conservatives believe that people should take care of themselves and not be dependent on the government taking care of them on behalf of welfare. They also are against abortions and gay marriages. They respect everything about our country, such as, the American flag and our military. For Liberals they believe in change. Liberals strongly oppose discrimination of any kind. They feel that the government should take care of the unfortunate. Liberals support gay marriages and the right for women to have an abortion.
There are many things that divide liberals and conservatives. Conservatives think that the social security is in financial trouble, and that changes need to be made in order for the U.S. to maintain it in the future. As for liberals they oppose change to Social Security, because if changes are made it will cause people to lose their benefits.
