This paper will analyze County Department of Social Services Agency that is located in Salisbury, North Carolina and correlate the ecological theory rand the psychodynamic/ psychoanalytical theory to explain how this agency interact with its clients and the community. This agency has multiple service divisions such as the Adult and Family Support Services Division that consist of the Crisis Intervention Program, Food Stamp Program, Intake (Adult Medicaid), and Long-term care Medicaid (nursing homes). Also, this agency has a Children’s Services Division. Rowan County Department of Social Services has a Family and Children’s Public Assistance Division and also, this agency provides the Work First Employment Services/ The Work First Family Assistance Program. The Rowan County Department of Social Services provides assistance to the elderly, adults, and children. I will show the relationship between the agency and the ecological and the psychodynamic/ psychoanalytical theory to explain how this agency interacts with its clients and the community. An ecological perspective views human development from a person-in-environment context, emphasizing the principle that all growth and development take place within the context of relationships. A systems approach to human development considers the way relationships within the family and between the family and social environment influence individual development and family functioning. Rowan County Department of Social Services offer programs that focuses on early intervention and family support programs correlates the ecological perspective into practice. Also, this agency uses the psychodynamic/psychoanalytical theory which pertains to the cognitive, emotional, and mental processes that consciously and unconsciously motivate an individual’s behavior.
