The psychological disorder that is discussed in this topic is related to social stigma. Under social stigma, the individual is discontent and disapproved from the society by its psychotic behavior that he or she adopt by experience. This social stigma is widely observed in homeless people. As we know that homeless are discontented people from rest of the society because of the stereotypic behavior that other members of the society develop in their minds for them. The homeless people who are living in hostels for longer period suffering from many psychotic disorders as compared to the people who are living in hostels for a shorter period.
The data of the Baltimore homeless survey demonstrate that 48% of the homeless woman is suffering from mental disorder. 16% of the woman and 9% of the man is suffering from schizophrenia disease. These statistics also provide more detail about mental disorders. The results demonstrate that 24% of the woman and 175 of the man are suffering from different kinds of mental illnesses that include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. 35% of the woman and 38% of the man are suffering from neurotic disorder (TIMMS).
Furthermore, 40% of the people are suffering from cognitive impairment, and 20% of the homeless persons are still suffering from a severe impairment. Due to their acute mental condition, there is less number of people who are giving them a place to live or rent them their property so that they can overcome these diseases.
