They didn't have any social stratifications as depicted in the Harappa culture, but they were really knowing by tourist for their spectacular art in monuments. First if we observe the Shang Dynasty compared to the Harappan we could see that they rarely have any similarities. The similarity they share is the fact that they were both overthrown. The Shang ended up being thrown by the Zhou, and The Harappan were overthrown by the Aryans. Another similarity they share is that they were both involved in the Bronze age. The Shang Dynasty developed a lot of their industrial items during the Bronze age, like their calendars or their writing systems, and the Harappan lived in the Indus River valley during the Bronze Age, so a lot of their items were made out of bronze. One main difference between the two is that the Harappan civilization participated in trade and the Shang did not. Since the Shang were a more developed and a more prosperous civilization than Harappan, they didn't need to rely on trade for prosperity, they had their own land that would give them such.
