But social worker has to provide relevant information that allows client to make the decision. If the client is unable to make any judgment or decision and the life of the client or others is threatened, social worker can limit the rights of self-determination. For Zhang Jie’s case, I can limit his rights of self-determination as he has the intention of harming himself.
Principle 4: Least harm, as a social worker I have to choose the course of action that will have the least harm to my client. Harm should be avoided where possible. As for Zhang Jie, I have to find solutions to avoid harm because he has thought on suicidal and I have to find solutions to this matter.
