Social Worker Observation
This social worker intern accompanied social worker, Edgina Sherman, on a visit with Kamari and Jaden at the provider’s home. Upon arrival, both children were napping. The home was clean, but evident that young children live there and play as there were plenty of toys on the floor.
Ms. Harris reported that Jaden and Kamari visited with their brother Jeremy on 10/23/16. She also reported that Jaden will begin receiving OT and PT 2x/mo, and speech and language services weekly. Jaden also had a swallow test, the results are currently pending. Kamari will also receive speech and language services weekly.
Ms. Harris inquired about nanny services and if it is “okay” for her to have a nanny. Ms. Sherman stated that nanny services are acceptable
given the appropriate background checks. Ms. Sherman recommended Care.com as a resource.
Ms. Sherman inquired about the status of the subsidy application that she had given Ms. Harris on 9/12/16. Ms. Harris said that she was not clear on which parts she needed to fill out. Ms. Sherman explained that all parts of the form must be completed and gave her a second copy with it partially filled out to help get her started. Ms. Sherman recommended that upon completion of the subsidy application, she consults with her attorney, Ms. Marblestien-Deare, prior to submitting to CFSA.
No recent medical or dental visits were discussed during this home visit.
