Out of the five definitions of the word prostitution, we can conclude that the majority of them carry a negative connotation. The first and last definitions are the only ones that are neutral; they do not imply a specific gender, they also inform the readers that prostitution is an act that can only be done if there are two individuals: the seller and the buyer. By mentioning the client, the definition carries a less negative evaluation as the responsibility of the act is not only on the prostitute but shared by the client as well. The definitions 2, 3 and 4 carry a negative evaluation of what prostitution is; for example, definition #2 implies that only women can be involve in prostitution and that they choose prostitution as a career only because they have “no more way to earn money”. This is false, as both women and men can be prostitutes and some of them choose this career not because it is their only way left to make money but for many other reasons.
