Some Examples Of Incidents In The Country Club
Hi Anthony!

You have two great examples of incidents that tie into risk management. The country club should have definitely had more signs up indicating that the diving board was broken. They also should have had it blocked off or a barricade that would not allow people to climb on it. Maybe for future references since the country club knows that some people will not follow the signs, they should have a security guard keep an eye on it and let patrons know it is not available for use.

Facts: During a convention at the Las Vegas Hilton in September 1991, Navy Lieutenant Paula Coughlin was attacked by a group of men in a hotel hallway. The resulting post-traumatic stress disorder and other problems related to the attack eventually hampered her ability to perform her duties. Ultimately, she resigned from the US Navy. Coughlin brought action against the Hilton Hotels Corporation (HCC), the Las Vegas Hilton Corporation (LVHC) and the Tailhook Association for negligence seeking both compensatory and punitive damages. “Her complaint alleged that LVHC and HHC had acted with conscious disregard for known safety standards and measures.” (Retrieved from www.ca9.uscourts.gov on December 5, 2007) The Tailhook Association settled out of court for a sum of $400,000.00.The jury found LVHC and HHC negligent and awarded Coughlin $1.7 million in compensatory damages, punitive damages of $2.62 million against LVHC, and $2.3 million against HHC. I interviewed James Alviar RN, the Coordinator of Risk Management at my current place of employment the Queen's Medical Center West Oahu. I asked him if there were any current risk management issues at our facility that we could discuss, but he said all current issues were confidential and he could not divulge any information to me. Instead, James pointed me in the generic direction of hospital falls that is a nationwide risk management issue and also pertains to us at Queens Medical Center. This paper will be discussing risk management's role, what falls are, how falls are addressed, how risk management would remedy the problem, and how the similar situation is discussed at another facility.…

Another quote that I found interesting is, "Screw the clubs!" Tigo said. "Can't we pick our own ..." The word was hard coming. When it came, his eyes did not leave Danny's face. "... friends?" "Sure we can," Danny said vehemently. "Sure, we can! Why not?" Tigo grew from wanting gang acceptance to hankering for a true friendship, that he found in Tigo. Because they had similar interests; they both liked guns, wanted to join the army and neither particularly liked the other boys in their gang. Tigo reslised that Danny and himself . I was pleased that they knew they didn’t have to stay a gang member their whole lives and that they knew they had a option to leave and make their own friends and not fell pressured to die for their…

Outdoor water recreation is a popular sporting event throughout the community. Nearby lakes provide an excellent way to cool off during the sultry summer days. Community awareness of water safety is imperative; otherwise, the number of drowning deaths will continue to escalate.…
