“ Bringing My Son to the Police Station to be Fingerprinted” , by Shoshauna Shy is about how a mom had to drive her son to the police station to get his fingerprints taken. Her son must have done something bad to have to have her take him to the police station. Although the poems as I first read the title, I thought it was gonna have details explaining why they were going to a police station. Instead of explaining that situation about the title, the author talks about her outfit she is wearing, and describes it throughout the whole poem. thinking about it may be a way for the speaker to avoid thinking about her real problem she is in with her son, and get her mind off of things. The author uses good imagery to describe in detail what the mom is wearing and how she feels about what she's wearing. …show more content…
She does this to try to avoid the reality of what her son did ,and of what is going on around her and of where she is currently at (which is the police station). Throughout the poem she does not say, or think about where she is at or even what her son has done and she tries to avoid the reality. The writer did not let the mom mention anything about what has happened because it is already shown in the title and the title tells the reader everything they needs to know about the situation the mother and the son are
