The Headless horseman’s playlist would have songs about him being dead, him not talking, and songs about him only going out at night. The first song on his playlist would be “Stayin Alive” By Bee Gees. In the book it says “The headless horseman, who had been heard several times of late, patrolling the country; and it is said, tethered to his horse nightly among the graves in the churchyard” (45-46). He is dead obviously because he has no head and goes around the churchyard where his grave is. The next song on his playlist would be “The Sound of Silence” by Disturbed. In the book it reads “Summoning up, therefore, a show of courage, he demanded in stammering accents- ‘Who are you?’ He received no reply” (53). He is silent because…
The rhythmic scheme to the poem gives the lyrics a pleasantly smooth flow even though the actual meaning is more disturbing. The poem is descriptive enough that the reader can picture the sceneries in their mind without actually being there in person. The credibility of “Strange Fruit” is prominent because it is not statistical, is not written after the fact, but it was based on eye witness testimony with documentations of pictures, newspapers, and advertisements. The evidence is inevitable. The whole poem showed up what injustice and intolerance caused in time racism was at one of its worst highs and Meeropol wanted people to understand how huge the sorrows and plight of the Afro Americans were (Anja’s Blog). Singing says more than just reading can express because the song gave vocal emphasis to the poem. The white audience was stunned when the song was first performed and it gave a shove to the public to open their eyes to see the truth behind the reality of white brutality. Again, in regards to “The Flowers” and “A Red Record”, “Strange Fruit” gave a more effective message about the true meaning and horrors in America through strong vocalization and…
Ralph has chosen this song as he loves it. It's a song he'd love to be able to play on guitar. Ralph has stated he loves to play his guitar. However he gets frustrated when he try's to play it on his own. He often has his guitar out when he is relaxing in the unit and has stated he wants to write a song about his mum. Ralph actually sung part of a song he had thought up. The lyrics were very warm towards his mum. However this song was very short and maybe if Ralph gets better at the guitar with these lessons he will be able to put a whole song together about his mum. This would be a very positive event as Ralph finds it very difficult to talk about his family at all.…
Senior year is like listening to a broken radio that repeats the same phrase over and over again. As an incoming freshman in college, we are still unable to throw this broken radio out. We've been forced to listen to the phrase "How are you going be successful in college?" I believe that everyone has a different definition of being successful in college. For me, being successful in college is keeping up with my grades and living my life to the fullest.…
Miguel Primentel, a R&B and soul artist, was a breath of fresh air to the R&B game in the 2010-2013 time frame. The Ballad “Candles in the Sun” was a simple, yet powerful song with a very nice message. This song was released on his second studio album Kaleidoscope Dream on September 25, 2012. Candles in the sun didn’t chart because wasn’t a single, but the album was number three on the Billboard 200 (Wikipedia 2016). “I wanted to create a song and visual that addressed my everyday concerns of life” (Miguel 2013) The song was very repetitive but had an amazing message. The song was to make you think and call to attention to the problems of the world. During 2011 and 2012 there were conflicts in the middle east, many countries had political…

There are wires growing out of everyone’s ears. That is, to listen to music. Music is an infinite source, whether that source is for lifting up spirits, expressing underlying pain and anger, or just merely a distraction. Music from well-developed Broadway musicals to a series of beats at a party, it is something we all have done: listen to music. Some even say that music defines us but it that really true? Is our music the soundtrack of who we each are? Do what we listen to support our core values in life? To answer this I sought out the one song I listened to most, “This Kiss” by Alex Days and Carrie Hope Fletcher, and interpreted its lyrics to see if it matched with my core values of commitment, happiness, and love.…
All my life I have liked this song, it has voice; a strong one, speaking out against the hate. The book A Raisin in the Sun deals with the struggle for a black family in the late 1940’s to move out of the ghetto, buy a home, go to college, and simply give their children money for school.…
his/her innocence. The second comment shows the ideologically simple thinking of child. That kind of comment is comparable to "I want the world to have peace to everyone is happy" comment common among middle-schoolers and beauty queens. In the next stanza the dialogue of the mom contrasts that of the kid. She is the voice of reason and caution and the kid is the voice of pro-activity and enthusiasm. She lists the dangers one by one, understands the problem, and gives a solution. She is very much a common sense figure. It also goes so far as to parallel the two voices for the black community at that time. One voice was proactive and wanted to march for freedom and the other wanted to kneel and pray rather than stand up for their rights.…
If I were making a soundtrack to my life, I would pick the song“Listen to Mama’s Words” by Jay Zhou, “ Father” by Chopstick Brother, “One Likes Summer the Other Likes Autumn” by Weiqi Fan, the music “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s and “Nocturne” by Chopin.…
