1. How do primary groups differ from secondary groups? Give examples of each in your own life.
Primary group is a small social group whose members share personal and lasting relationships.
Family
Relationships in our family represent personal and emotional bonds. We spend a significant amount of time together, allowing each member to support, comfort and encourage one another.
Close Friends
Spending a lot of time experiencing different adventures with my close friends, chatting about personal stories and simply enjoying each other’s' company are all personal and close interactions amongst us. Our friendship is often brought together as a result of shared interests, personalities and lifestyles. Since our relationships are so personal, our friendship often remain intact over a long period of time.
Love Relationships
A couple in a love relationship is first brought together as a result of a mutual physical and emotional attraction. They spend a significant amount of time together, whether that involves learning about one another or collectively sharing new experiences. With that, a very personal, intimate and romantic relationship evolves that tends to last a very long time, typically a lifetime.
Secondary group is a large and impersonal social group whose members pursue a specific goal or activity.
Classroom
A classroom consists of students and a teacher. The teacher is in charge of creating a structure and environment which involves implementing a set of rules and expectations, helping the students to meet their educational goals. Students do their part in sharing the achievement of an educational goal.
Place of Employment
In my workplace, our faculties, co-working and head come together in a mutual location (AD318) for the purpose of completing a task. We, working student, complete the job while our head is there to assist us to pursue our goal which is to have a well-organized and well-trained working students in the workplace.
