Through developments in technology and through social media we can now witness how other people on the other side of the globe live their lives. These factors have increased the demand of a higher standard of living across the world. There are concerns that globalization has weakened states borders, thus in turn weakening the power of the state. ( Ip, 2010 ). Accompanying this with the fact that travel has become much easier, globalization has made migration much more practical. With borders becoming more porous there have been countless individuals who have become migrants in search of a better life. This can be seen in the United States on the southern border with the influx of Mexican and various other Central American migrants, as well as in Europe with the refugee crisis originating in Syria and Libya. These migrants go directly against these nations’ sovereignty, as the migration goes against the laws of the land.
