A. Answer the following about the Aztecs and the Conquistadors.

1. Describe the life of the Aztecs. What is Tenochtitlan? How big was that city? The Life of the Aztecs was filled with war. They spent a lot of time dedicated to their gods. Tenochitlan was the Aztec Capital. Tenochtitlan used to be a big city in Mexico(present day Mexico City).

2. What was sold at the Aztec market? Fruits, veggies, grains, and other necessities.

3. What was the main staple of the Aztec diet? Beans, Corn and squash.

4. What were some of the reasons that Cortez wanted to conquer the Aztecs? Cortez wanted to conquer the Aztecs for greed of money and land.

5. What were some of the biggest advantages the Spanish had over the Aztecs? They had strong immune systems and weren’t affected by disease. Weapons.

6. What were the religious beliefs of both groups? Which group tried to convert the other one to their religion? The Spanish believed in Christianity, and Mexica believed in Mexicayotl.

    The Spaniards allied with the Tlaxcalan indians and marched into Tenochtitlan. Montezuma welcomed in Quetzalcoatl’s men with open arms, but Hernan Cortes seized power of the empire by using Montezuma as a figurehead against his will, while Cortes made all the real decisions.
