The word Hispanic has been around for a very long time and it’s a name applied to people of country heritage that speak the Spanish language. The US government began using this term to refer to a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race in the 1970’s. Then the term continued to be used and I have never felt offended by the term even though I know that it’s an easy term to generalize a whole lot of people.

For example I was a person that liked to watch their news in Univision but then afterwards I began noticing that there was a slight change in the facts and I noticed this by watching the same news in NBC or ABC. The facts were altered I believe to rile up the Latino community with some of the things that the government changes that are happening. I believe that the new generation of Latinos are more informed and are not easily fooled by the media, we have more information outlets at the tip of our hands.
