April 1st, 2013 Spay/Neutering your pets
Purpose: The purpose of my speech is to persuade my audience to spay/neuter your pets. I. Introduction

B) Our world today is over populated with stray animals.
C) In the U.S., there are an estimated 6–8 million homeless animals entering animal shelters every year. About half of these animals are adopted. Tragically, the other half is euthanized.
D) Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100% effective method of birth control for dogs and cats. By fixing our animals, the amount of abused, sheltered, and euthanized will greatly decrease throughout the years.
E) I did not know how important it was to neuter your pets until I had one of my own. The veterinarian advised me of the importance in this issue & I have helped my spaying my pet.
II. Body
Transition: There are many benefits with spay/neutering your pets A) Avoid cancers and infection in both female and male pets B) Less animals in shelters C) Spayed or neutered pets are better behaved
Main Idea: There are several arguments against these benefits that keep people for fixing their pets.
A) The pet must be fixed before you can even take it home. There are several veterinarian clinics that are so serious about having your animal fixed, that they will fix your pet for free. If you find a stray animal, several vet clinics will fix it for free as well. III. Conclusion

A) I’m sure most of us here today have an animal, have had an animal, or want to have an animal. Thus, we must take into consideration what is the best action for these pets.
