Speech At Urban Prep
A. Why do you want to give the Valedictory/Salutatory speech address?

Being recognized as the Valedictorian at Urban Prep is one of the highest achievements attainable at the school. With the significance of this speech, it becomes vital that the selection committee chooses a senior from the class of 2018 at Urban Prep Englewood that will deliver not only an effective Valedictory speech address, but an entertaining one as well. Establishing a well engaged audience is one of the most challenging aspects of most public speeches, and I believe that I am the perfect student for this position. Also, I feel as though that as being the first Urban Prep student to be admitted to the University of California, at Los Angeles (UCLA) it is only right that I am given the

This news was given with very little time for preparation, for my grandmother was moved in the very next day. This was a huge change for me; my grandmother was 82 years old at the time and with that, she needed a lot of attention from all members of the family. I decided to spend a lot of my time assisting my grandmother with any of her needs and in doing so, I lost time and focus of my schoolwork. I noticed a drop in my grades during my first semester of sophomore year in high school. I then decided that I needed to learn how to manage my time so that I could help out my family and still get my schoolwork done efficiently. I began to separate myself from my friends to give myself the highest chance of getting majority of my work done at school and not have to use my time at home to do it. That next semester I noticed that my grades had begun to rise to where I wanted them to be. Although this situation was very unexpected and caused my grades to slip below my standard, I was still able to recognize my mistake and figure out what I needed to do to fix

At yesterday’s town council meeting (3/6/17), the serious problems of Cottone Field took center stage. Concerned residents and students lined up to inform the council about the worn-out condition of the field which has recently caused injuries to several students. The injuries were due to the uplift of the base layer of silica sand which purpose is to act as a cushion. Without this base layer of sand, the field becomes incredible dense, providing little to no dampening of impacts. The result of this is that students are getting sprained ankles in situations where they would normally be uninjured. One concerned resident reported “their was no difference in feel between the concrete and the field once I stepped on to it”. Another reported…

On September 16, 2011, I attended a training session/lunch and learn for Valley Regional Imaging. They came to me job to show the new computer technology that we will soon have access to from our clinic. Instead of them faxing us results, we would be able to go on the computer and see our own results. The meeting was held in one of our board rooms. The room was dimly lit with a huge projection screen in the middle. The table was huge with big comfy leather chairs surrounding in. The board room was away from normal patient activity so it was very quiet. The room was actually very cold so I had to leave and get my jacket.…

Being Miss South Atlanta is not just a title in my opinion, it is something I have desired to become throughout my few years of high school. I have been a student attending South Atlanta High School since August 2014. School spirit was just something my school lacked. If I am elected Miss South Atlanta I will work with SGA and 12th grade Student Body in order to mark 2018 a year to remember.…

To you I am just a one in the hundreds of applicants, I am just a grade on a paper – you don’t know me, you don’t know what I look like, you don’t know my story. There is more to me then that number on a page, and more that I would like you to get to know. I’m sure the admissions offices are flooded with the discontent of applicants who feel they deserve to have this opportunity. I can only imagine the difficulties that come along with sifting through piles of students ranging from across the country and even abroad, narrowing it down to the top contenders who are believed to maintain the reputation of UBC. UBC is one of Canada’s leading Universities, with an outstanding Kinesiology program that people such as myself dream of one day being…

During this class I have made two self- discoveries that will positively impact my career goals. Those self- discoveries has helped to mold, and shape me into a student that I have never thought I would be. Those discoveries were that I am an organized learner, because I made a study plan to help me determine when, and how I would study. Being that I have five children, I had to make sure that I had set a schedule so that my course work including study time would not affect my family time and take away from spending time with my children and fiance`. Since these are the competing priorities in my life right now learning to obtain trust and consistency in the home while I have been attending school has also improved because not only do I see my success so does my children and fiancé. Knowing that I had that support also has made it possible to do my best in school, setting the pace for them to do the same in school also, whether it be good grades, sports, etc. I know that they will continue to be good at what they do and have proven to do so time after time.…

Before my freshman year, I never had to study. I could understand subjects easily enough that it would stick with me. This experience of going from being extremely far behind from what I should have learned to having good grades has made me realize how important a good education is. From my freshman year to now my GPA has risen incredibly. I am glad that I got to see what a broken school system is like because it has made me appreciate the education that I have now even more. Learning is now an important part of my life. I am more eager to learn than most and I feel that my motivation comes from the discouragement I felt in that first ninth grade…

I asked to move to the front of the class and from then on I always stayed focused in class and took notes of important lessons being taught during class time. I had help from all of my teachers on the side and even stayed after class to ask questions about anything I didn’t quite understand. This was guiding me to the right path that I wanted to be on. I was learning more efficiently and using my time wisely. This was preparing me for the future and narrowed down my mind to focus on one thing, and one thing only; My education. I was becoming the student I have always wanted to be. Even my friends and family were taking notice in my changes. My teachers knew I needed to graduate high school and saw that I was not stopping at just getting the minimal passing grades. I was striving to receive the best grades I could possibly earn to prepare myself for…
