She makes leather bags, purses and clutches and sells them at boutiques and her own website. She has had difficulty getting loans for her business because of past large amounts of student loan debt and poor credit. Because of that, she cannot purchase the leather and other materials that are needed to make the purses. She works at another job to pay off some of her student loans and to make the purchases for her business. She is considered one of the working poor and she is building herself up by providing for herself.
I can relate to Debbie because as a young student myself, I am starting to get student loans that are adding up in cost. Although I am not starting my own business, I will have to pay off all of my student loans after I graduate and start working. In society, we are told how important it is to go to college and get a job but for a lot of people college doesn’t work out for them because they do not have a way to pay without having to take out multiple loans.
