Spiral Of Experience

Leadership development is critical for the success of companies. Leaders point the team in the right direction and inspire followers to be productive and engaged with the mission of the organization. Our text included many methods of leader development. I particularly enjoyed the section about the Spiral of Experience and how the author uses Colin Powell and the life he has led as an example. What an amazing inspiration he is! For me personally, I think the method of Coaching is the most effective. There are few people who understand the unique challenges and needs within an organization more than the current leaders and managers. Their insight makes them perfectly suited to coaching up and coming leaders. In my current job, I am currently
being coached by my superior; I am working as assistant to our event director. Daily she teaches and guides me in the event planning industry. She corrects my mistakes and shows me when things should be done in a different and/or more efficient way. I believe she is providing and empowering me with the tools that will help me to be a successful leader in our industry.
