Lesson Plan - Sit-ups
Aim and Purpose of the session:
To test and develop skills according to fitness by trying out different varieties of fitness techniques
Equipment Needed
Yoga mats x2
Stopwatches x2
Health and Safety
If it is raining we should check the far right and left corners to see if it is wet as it might cause a safety hazard.
Around the mats there should not be anything because someone might trip and fall.
All hair should be tied back and away from the face and scarves should be short and tucked in.
No jewellery should be worn e.g. earrings, necklaces
Organisations-

The entire student will be split up into groups and every five minutes they will have to move around the circle in a clockwise direction visiting every station.
The yoga mats will be placed next to each other students should be instructed to not place their shoes on the mats but just their heads and upper body
They will have to paired up to students will start their sit-ups while the partner times how long they can choose how long they want according to time if they want 30 second period or 1 minute period. The partner should count how many sit-ups they do within the allocated time.
If one of the student find it easy the partner can hold the person performing their legs down and they should attempt to do the sit ups while so.
Teaching points: Bending the knees during sit-ups helps neutralize the action of the hip flexors and makes the abdominal muscles work more. Even so, the abdominal group tends to be involved only in the initial phase of the sit-up, after which the hip flexors take over. Conducting sit-ups with momentum, knees bent or not, does not work the abdominal group. That is why raising slowly only part way works the abdominal muscles best.

Plenary:
The students should reflect on what activities the did today and how they have improved their fitness and what they liked best out of it all. And to cool down if there is time they can do light stretches.
