Spring (season)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Spring festival" redirects here. For the Chinese celebration, see Spring Festival.
For other uses, see Spring.
Spring is one of the four conventional temperate seasons following winter and precedingsummer. The specific definition of the exact timing of "spring" varies according to local climate, cultures and customs. At the spring equinox, days are close to 12 hours long with day length increasing as the season progresses. Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth.
-------------------------------------------------
Natural events
In spring, the axis of the Earth is increasing its tilt toward the Sun and the length of daylight rapidly increases for the relevant hemisphere. The hemisphere begins to warm significantly causing new plant growth to "spring forth," giving the season its name. Snow, if a normal part of winter, begins to melt, and streams swell with runoff. Frosts, if a normal part of winter, become less severe. In climates that have no snow and rare frosts, the air and ground temperature increases more rapidly. Many flowering plants bloom this time of year, in a long succession sometimes beginning even if snow is still on the ground, continuing into early summer. In normally snowless areas "spring" may begin as early as February (Northern Hemisphere) heralded by the blooming of deciduous magnolias, cherries, and quince, or August (Southern Hemisphere) in the same way. Subtropical and tropical areas have climates better described in terms of other seasons, e.g. dry or wet, or monsoonal, or cyclonic. Often the cultures have locally defined names for seasons which have little equivalence to the terms originating in Europe. Many temperate areas have a dry spring, and wet autumn (fall), which brings about flowering in this season more consistent with the need for water

Spring; a time where rebirth of our earth takes place all around the world. It is a time where replication of flowers begin to blossom and trees begin to start their journey of growing up all over again. It is when the Sun lays back and watches our earth transform into a new season of life, where the sounds of bee's buzzing and children playing in the newly grown grass shows the purity of this magnificent season. Although spring is a repeated time of the year we still breathe the fresh air with a smile on our face, but to Kim Addonizio, the author and narrator of the poem "Onset" springtime seems to be of terror in her eyes. "Onset" is a poem that refers to the replications of spring which slowly lead into the identical features of everyday…

Though, March (out of the months March, April and May) had the highest wind speed out of the whole year at 9.1mph. This is also when temperatures start to warm up for the seasons and range about 60°F-77°F. So, the farther into the year we get, it heats up fast! However, it is still chilly in the early mornings and at night with a temperature of about 45°F. Because of these cold temperatures, it does still snow in the spring sometimes with an average snowfall of about 1 inch in March. As far as rain goes, spring usually does not have the most rain, contrary to popular believe, summer does. Spring has an average rainfall of; 3.7inches in March, 2.8inches in April and 4inches in…

How can someone be claimed as insane? In the case of Andrea Yates, she was found not guilty by reasons of insanity. Clearly Andrea Yates was insane because of what she did. Andrea Yates murdered her five children. Andrea Yates has thought about killing her children for quite a while before she really did kill her children. Her husband Rusty Yates knew about his wife trying to kill their children and caught Andrea before she did it the first time. Andrea Yates attempted to kill her kids before and she didn’t kill them in earlier attempts because she didn’t think she was ready. I believe that Andrea Yates was insane because she has pre-planned killing her kids before and she finally did it.…

In the world of politics, one of the most important things is who you know. Knowing people will bring a politician success. Chris Matthew stressed one-on-one communication and “retail politics” in this first chapter of his book. He knows firsthand because he was in Washington for many years observing and learning. Not only is it necessary to know as many people as possible, but it is also important to make the person feel that their concerns are cared for on a personal level. Knowing people is not only important in the political world, but it is also important in the real world. The more people you know, the more opportunities will arise for you. In the book Chris Matthew talks about how many popular politicians rose to the top because they made the effort to get to know everyone, especially those who are important. This can apply to any work environment. Networking is a very important part of life. It is important for all of us to remember to treat each person with care because they will potentially be important in our lives.…

These four season are what their lives revolved around. In spring, the earth softened, warmed, and fertile dirt was ready to receive seeds. In the summer, berries became available during the extremely long stretches of dry and hot weather. In autumn, trees foliage changed to beautiful colors including red, yellow, and orange. Air was a bit more chilled and windy during this season. In the winter, snow fell over the land, freezing the lakes. The cycle of the seasons was clearly defined (Bial, 1999).…

After my first week of the Summer Bridge Program at Penn St-Abington, I learned a lot about the differences between high school and college. I really understand in high school that you must be there during the allotted hours, success rides on the teacher, and that we can get away from not reading the text for class and in college you have more freedom, harder courses, and longer hours of studying. We learned how to become an efficient and effective learner. What I learned from that lesson is that, I have to focus much more and study much harder then what I did in high school. Also that college is no joke since it’s a privilege and that high school is a right that we have to go. To me the most effective strategy I learned is how to become a better listener and how to be a successful student in college. The way I’m going to be a better listener is by using study strategies, note taking strategies and go to a tutoring center if I have trouble. What I learned so far relates to the present is that some strategies I never used or thought about. In the future, I’m going to use tutoring center or use the professor’s office time for any question I don’t understand. In conclusion, I learned so far is going to change the way I look at college. I understand now that college is no place to mess around. It’s a place where you chose what you want to do in the long…

Perhaps the first notice of spring can be seen in the climate’s temperature rising. Signaling what is known by many as the “spring thaw”, winter’s blanket of snow begins melting as the temperature changes. Along with the rise in temperature the first signs of new life are visible in the budding of the trees and flowers beginning to bloom. Hibernating animals awaken from their winter slumber and start foraging for food and searching for mates. Along with the rise in temperatures, our daylight hours increase and farmers use this extra time to cultivate the land and prepare for the planting of the crops. This is the time of year when the sky opens up with showers and love can be seen blooming all around us.…

During this stage great ideas and goals are born; filled with excitement and enthusiasm.…
