The term “stand out” actually originates from the year 1898 when a group of workers decided to stand out or go on strike. Today the term is associated with making yourself, or something, stand apart from others. In other words to distinguish yourself differently from those around you.
Of course standing out from other people is not that easy to do. You would need to feel very comfortable with who you are to manage this. As with anything this term can mean different things to different people. So you need to really think about what this meaning holds for you and why you want to stand out?
1. Do
you want to stand out so that you are noticed for who you are?
2. Are you attempting to draw attention for a specific person?
3. Are you trying to brand your business?
Once you have identified your reason you can then decide on a course of action to take, so you truly do stand out. Of course no-one wants to make a spectacle of themselves either. So don’t go to the extreme of dying your hair a shocking pink or doing something that you may regret afterwards.
When attempting to make your business stand out from others, look for creative ways that you could market your business. This could involve creating a unique style of business card or a logo. Again you don’t want to do anything that may discredit your business or make you look as though you are not playing by the rules.
Standing out means to be unique and different. Think about style, design, color schemes, having a different type of call to action or a custom buy button on your site or products.
