Standardized Testing: Do You Think It's Really Worth It?
It costs $1.7 billion per year for Standardized testing. Do you think it's really worth it? We came up with three solutions to solve the problem with standardized testing. The first solution was to have a choice. The second solution was one big project for the whole year. The last solution was have a standardized test but not be timed and have it just be one big test, instead of having a whole bunch of small tests.
Standardized testing causes many dilemmas throughout schools. One big reason why we need to fix standardized testing is if there are people that aren’t able to speak fluent in english they will have a hard time. Just because they aren't able to speak english doesn’t mean that they don't know what they are testing them on. These test are not accurate. We have to fix this. I think in my opinion that we shouldn’t be timed when we have standardized tests. I think that because, usually we only have like 30-35 minutes to do about 40 questions. That only gives us not even 1 minute for each question. That does not give an accurate score if you you are rushing and filling in bubbles. It’s not really accurate because it’s not really putting in a lot of effort because we were rushed into it. A lot of us do bad on those because of the time.
