Standing Back Handspring Differences
Almost everything in this world compares and contrasts with something else, even if the subjects are classified in the same category. For example, the two topics I am going to compare and contrast are both tumbling skills. However, the way you go about performing them, can be very different. Completing a standing tuck compared to a standing back handspring differentiate in many ways. When comparing a standing back tuck to a standing back handspring, there is one obvious similarity: going backwards. However, there are a number of things that they have in common. For example, to perform each skill, you must have strong arms. In a back handspring, you are going to land on your arms, and in a standing back tuck, you will need to use a lot of force from your arms to achieve a high set before flipping backwards. The most obvious contrast, is that when you perform a standing tuck, you use no hands, and when you perform a standing back handspring, you jump backwards onto your hands. On the topic of jumping back, a standing back handspring requires you to jump backwards, where a standing tuck expects you to jump straight up in the air to reach the peak of your set. Also, when you are flipping in a standing back handspring, your legs are supposed to be locked out so your skill looks clean. In a standing tuck however, your legs need to be as curled up, and bent as possible in order to complete the flip. Now, both skills are fun to do, however, a standing back handspring is more rough on your body, such as your wrists and your back, and a standing tuck is a lot less painful on your body, assuming you completed the skill properly. The final contrast between these two topics, is there are different variations of a standing back handspring, such as the standing back handspring stepout, where there is only one type of standing

    Vault and floor focus on energy conservation and motion in different dimensions. Before a vault or a tumbling pass, I start by running (about 60 feet for vault and 15 for floor) trying to attain maximum speed and acceleration right before I begin the first part of the skill. On vault, I try to be as efficient as possible in my hurdle to the springboard and transfer to the table, which I then push with my arms and shoulders to get one more energy boost before flying off the table. In a front and spring, I continue moving forward the whole way, traveling on the x-axis and flipping on the y-axis. In a Tsukahara, I twist onto the table so that I push off facing the runway, and then bend my knees to increase my rotational velocity and flip backwards one and half times around my y-axis before landing, while traveling on the x-axis the entire time. On floor, my run ends in one of two entry skills that I try to finish at an angle that will give me optimal height and rotation for the next skill. A front layout is similar to a front and spring vault, involving forward motion in the x- and y- dimensions.
