Describe the ways I which the images shown in the posters are similar and how they are different. How do the images on the poster give us an idea of what the film will be about?
The two pictures on the poster are similar because of the colouring, and because they both contain the same person. The top of the poster is filled by a picture of three of the main characters. Two of these characters are half hidden by the third character. This suggests that they will only play secondary main parts. The third character is also the character in the bottom picture. They are both lined up in the centre as well increasing their similarity. The two pictures are faded into each other in the centre of the page; this gives the effect of them being one picture not two. The pictures tell us that the film is going to be a sci-fi. This is
because there is a large spaceship and the colours used are normally used in futuristic films.

The pictures tell us that the film is going to be a sci-fi. This is because there is a large spaceship and the colours used are normally used in futuristic films. I also think that film will be sci-fi because of the font used for the title. The colour choice of the font and the texture also give it a futuristic feel. The designer has put a flash of light through the title. This gives it the look of a star. This leads you to believe that the film is going to take place in space.
How does the poster link in with the message of the trailer?
The poster links in with the trailer quite well. We see in the trailer the part of the film where the picture for the poster is taken from. The trailer has the same feel as the poster, is dark and full of action. The trailer gives us a greater insight into the film than the poster does. The trailer is pieced together from different parts of the film. It shows us part of the plot, which gets people more interested in going to watch the film.
What do you think the unique selling point of this film
is?
The unique selling point of this film is the fact that it is a prequel to all the old star trek movies. There is no other movie explaining the background story of star trek. The film is full of links to the older films. It will attract Trekkies who will want to see what modern cinema has done to their favourite franchise, and it will also attract people who like a good action movie. The film will be using new special effects equipment which may appeal to certain people. The style of the film is also different to the old films. The new version has a lot more action and special effects in the film.
