The character, Han Solo, in the film, “Star Wars: A New Hope,” undoubtedly represents the characteristics of an anti-hero. Primarily, an anti-hero is not the typical, ideal hero; the anti-hero has many detrimental traits unlike the common hero. In the movie, Han is known to be a greedy person; he rescues Princess Leia with the intents of receiving a grand reward at the end. Further, he proved the fact that he was a coward when he favored his own ease and safety over Leia’s as he states, “better her than me,” while hesitating to save her. Han is furthermore a cynic, which is evident as he told Luke, before saving Leia, that his plan would not work: he carries a common misperception of events. Secondly, an anti-hero does not always follow moral…

    2. Sisyphus is considered absurd because he believed that “what is right” is better and more important then what authority claims. He also preferred life over death, the earth as opposed to the afterlife, he has a passion for life. His passion for life also leads to hatred of death, and his scorn for the gods. Sisyphus’ attitude towards his fate is that he becomes one with his task, his makes the rock his own. His consciousness and lucidity of what he is doing allows him to see his fate as something other than hopeless and futile, he is stronger than the rock. Sisyphus makes his fate a human matter, not one the gods can control.…

In the article “ The force in ‘Star Wars’ is stupid and immoral” written by Ben Shapiro He states that “The vision of the force in the star wars galaxy is morality free its feelings centered wich another way of saying “selfish” who cares about your feelings?” I think the point of the force is that the light side is about using it to help others, and the dark side is about using it for yourself.…

A fundamentally existentialist philosophy for living in the world on the part of both protagonists, would be Existence Before Essence. Donnie never have dreamt of doing anything bad to cause harm to anyone, especially those of his family members. His ongoing meetings with the rabbit keep telling him evil plans to ruin someone's day or terrorize their feelings. At the end when Donnie stays in his bed and the jet engine falls in his room, he dies. If he still lived, then he would do the bad deeds around people when he was in the tangent universe. But he ended up dying, so now he wouldn't be able to terrorize the lives of others. Whereas, Robert lived his life by fighting in the war and dying naturally from the fire that engulfed the barn with him inside.…

Movies are always trying to duplicate what actually happened in real life. The directors have to read and learn about the specific time and the events that they want their movie to be based upon. During WWII, there were many critical moments that could be historically accurate or inaccurate. Empire of the Sun directed by Steven Spielberg, is a historically accurate movie because it depicts what is what like for a younger child to live in a concentration camp during the middle of a war. The movie is a true story based on the memories of J.G. Ballard who is portrayed as Jamie in the movie(Berardinelli 1).…

I have since heard the book and its message described as fascistic, provocative, irresponsible, unpalatable. This it may well be. Yet I found reading his book to be an amazingly sobering and dispiriting affair. One can really drink up the spirit of a man in reading his prose, and I fear Heinlein to be not someone with whom I want to share a beer or be friends. I read later that he was a career military officer who developed tuberculosis and was invalided out of the fleet to a literary career. There hangs about this book a severe and cynical air of wounded world-weariness, as if life is a dreary and dangerous affair requiring toughness and discipline to survive. He nearly models Sparta in his apotheosis of rigorous military training as necessary for the formation of good character in a person. His anger and disdain for modern liberal democracy is strong. The dispiriting part is that Heinlein is consistent and correct in his powerful arguments - it is impossible to dismiss him, even if he gores the sacred cows of our age.…

Anakin and Padme’s story in Revenge of the Sith is akin to Romeo and Juliet’s story. In Romeo and Juliet their families are essentially warring with each other, because this is the case, Romeo and Juliet have to keep their love for each other a secret. Anakin has no biological family left, and Padme’s family has no quarrel with Anakin’s family, they are still both lovers who must keep their love for each other a secret, since Anakin is a Jedi and the Jedi Code states that “There is no passion [for others],” meaning there is no attachment to one another. This is the sacred law for the Jedi and if it is broken the punishments could range from simple embarrassment in front of one’s peers, expulsion from the order, to the most extreme, being stripped…

Many people feel that book to movie adaptations give the readers a chance to connect with the characters and visualize what happens in the book. While many others believe that many important things that happen in the book may be left out or altered, changing the plot of the book entirely. One of these book to movie adaptations being Stardust by Neil Gaiman. After reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman and watching the movie “Stardust” 3 differences that impact the plot directly would be the role the lightning pirates play, Tristran did not tying the star to the tree, and in Dunstan telling Tristran about his faerie heritage right before he began his quest.…
