First off, the movie takes away the dramatic irony that the book had, because the readers knew who his mother was but Tristran did not. Tristran then uses the candle to go to faerie to at first meet his mother,but at the last second he thinks of the star and instantly teleported to her instead. Finding his mother was ultimately the reason why he wanted to go to faerie, he just happened to go to the star instead. This instant teleportation to the star takes away Tristran’s entire journey through faerie.
