Starbucks is a globally recognized coffee and beverage brand that has rapidly made strides into all major markets worldwide. The company has an advantage over its main competitors considering the outstanding teams of employees they have in their corporate offices and in their retail stores. Starbucks is so well known throughout the western hemisphere that it has become a household name for coffee. The Starbucks brand name is one of the most admired and famous global business in the world which leaves so many people applying for retail and corporate positions daily but not only for that reason they are attracted to the benefits and compensations that the company has to offer (Rodrigo, 2012). The Seattle based Starbucks Corporation, which was founded in 1971 is a multinational coffee and coffee house currently with over 15,000 stores in all 50 states and in 43 different countries. These stores house jobs for over thousands of employees who are proud to be a part of the Starbucks team (2012). Serving consumers everywhere the aim of Starbucks is to establish and leverage its powerhouse premium specialty coffee through rapid expansion of retail operation, new distribution channels and to do so with the help of their hired team of employees that they choose carefully every year. Also, Starbucks has a training program for high potential employees which, enables them to retain the best talent and means that 75% of their stores and district mangers are promoted (Peacock, 2011).
Benefits and Compensations
Starbucks has several classifications for in-store workers, which include baristas, shift supervisors, assistant store managers and store managers. Starbucks calls its employees “partners” because they believe the company strives to provide employees with a positive workplace based on a direct and open relationship.
