Statement of Purpose
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

In the past few years, India has been getting ready to become one of the strongest economies in the world. The current slogan `India Shining’ adopted by one of the country’s political parties, is most apt in business. With liberalization, the country has seen tremendous growth. Multinationals have poured in bringing with them, huge opportunity and most importantly, optimism for the future. The feel good factor is upon us, and I, as an Indian, revel in the new business avenues being thrown open for generation next. I started my education by schooling at St. Lawrence High School, one of Mumbai’s most prestigious schools where the bar for educational achievement was set high, but the importance of a well-rounded personality was equally important. I took my S.S.C degree from the same school with a first class after which I pursued my H.S.C from The Bombay Suburban Grain Dealer’s Junior College Of Commerce, Arts & Science and now I am pursuing my Graduation (B.B.A) from The Indira College of Commerce and Science (affiliated to Pune University) in pursuit of a college degree. Outstanding academic performance in my school and college, active participation in academic as well as extra-curricular activities and work experience have helped me to develop strong quantitative and analytical abilities and good leadership and communication skills. These abilities have prepared me to handle complex problems and have given me confidence to pursue post graduate studies. During the three years of my undergraduate studies I interacted with students from different states, varied cultural and social backgrounds. Working with these students on group assignments, presentations, food festivals and other events taught me to be more tolerant, open minded and empathetic. It improved my communication skills and made me a better team player. Many of my courses and research activities in the final year are in the field of Management, Marketing, Project Report,

Being part of an institution, I am aware of the typical, daily life of a college student. Gothic literature, which is sometimes referred to as Gothic horror, is a genre that links horror and romance into one tale of ‘transgressing the boundaries’. Gothicism was unheard of until the late 1700’s, this movement into a new genre of literature. This was pioneered by the English author Horace Walpole, in his famous fictional book ‘The Castle of Otranto’, or as Walpole alternatively titled it ‘a Gothic story’. Horace Walpole himself had transgressed the boundaries slightly; by introducing this new style of writing he had added a whole new genre into literature. Walpole’s style of writing was unique and captivated the readers mind and imagination to let he or she share the act of transgression, or as Robert Kidd, a renowned critic put it, “The Gothic has somehow seduced the reader so that he or she is complicit in engaging in whatever he or she might encounter”. This is what kept Gothicism alive, the author’s ability to intrigue the reader and give them a thirst to read more gothic literature.…

Growing up, I struggled with math, needless to say, I was never encouraged to go into any type of occupation with a technical or quantitative background needed. My experience at Radford University gave me the capacity to develop a love of math and the confidence to pursue a career in analytics. The school was three hours from my home and none of my friends ended up attending there. At first, for an introvert like myself, this was a terrifying situation, however, this experience ultimately led to my development as a leader.…

I wasn’t terribly sure what I wanted to do with my life, nor did I have any idea how to get where I thought I wanted to be. My relative lack of passion wasn’t seen as a deterrent in my affluent Texas town, though, as it was a place where nearly all high school students went on to college—it was the only option we really considered or that was presented to us by our families, teachers, and counselors as a post-graduation plan. So I began the requisite search by looking first at nontraditional college environments, for while I had done reasonably well at my large and impersonal public high school, nor had I flourished either. It seemed to me that if I was going to spend the next four years of my life in school, I might as well try a different tactic than the one that had allowed me to coast rather unremarkably through high school.…

Our five senses are not enough for ideal living. We need to use our sixth sense: our sense of humor. Humor is not merely telling jokes; it is the way we view the world. We can be sincere about life without taking it so seriously. We can laugh about our mistakes and pain. Louis Kornenberger explains: Humor simultaneously wounds and heals, indicts and pardons, diminishes and enlarges; it constitutes inner growth at the expense of outer gain.Yet, we humans laugh an average of only 17 times a day. Biologically, humans are the few living beings that laugh, and yet we take this luxury for granted. Laughter releases endorphins, a drug 10 times more powerful than morphine, into the body. This gives the body that feel-good feeling. Laughter can lead to humans having healthier lives, as well as many other benefits.…

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- life is stronger than death.” If you ask me to describe myself I would say that I am pleasant, diverse, and active man. I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am an engineering graduate with a flair for management. I also have a passion for traveling and exploring different cultures of the world. All these elements have helped me develop a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. As a freshman at the undergraduate level, I chose my major in Electrical & Electronics Engineering to ensure a sound technological base. It was in my third year of graduation in Engineering that I was able to touch upon subject like Industrial and Organizational Management, which stimulated my interest towards management. Professional experience has helped me fortify my conclusion that Management science is a major part of the industry and it plays a polar role. After completing my Engineering from Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi; which is amongst the best institutes of technical education in India, I joined in as a Project Engineer in Wipro Technologies Ltd. To get a feel of corporate management and to know what it takes to become a successful manager before opting for a career in the field. My desire to know more of the big world of managers saw me carefully observing what makes the decisions of the managers, who manage the companies, more successful & pragmatic. I realized that experience did play a major role in their success, but what was more important was that they came from recognized schools of business. Their decisions were based on simulated conditions in classroom discussions and on the basis of their peer’s experiences that were also shared…
