Statement Of Purpose

The reason why I applied to this exchange program is that I have a dream to experience a global education. Going overseas will open up my horizons, encouraging to be a more independent individual. Overseas, I will not only spend much time studying but I will also willingly participate in activities in the university, shaping me into a more holistic individual. By immersing myself in their local culture, I am able to learn new skills that are beyond textbooks. Equipped with the new skills I picked up in my exchange program, I will return to NUS as a more mature and proficient student. Along with that, I will also share with my peers the insights I have gained from my trip, allowing them to benefit from my experience. On top of that, I will apply all that I have learnt overseas to further enhance and excel in my academics and to my career in the future. Likewise, I am thus able to contribute in bringing NUS to greater heights of academic excellence. I would also like to cultivate and foster new friendships and bonds with not only the exchange students but also with the locals. As an ambassador of NUS, I will offer them insights on the education system in Singapore, particularly the dynamic study regime in NUS. This way, not only do I benefit from the students over there but I am also able to bring to them an Asian perspective on the issues at hand. By engaging with the local students, I will be able to open their minds about the holistic education system we have here in NUS and hopefully evoke and propel their interest in coming to Singapore for their exchange program.
