We are now able to extract adult stem cells that are obtained from: fat, cord blood, neural tissue, bone marrow, muscle, placental, and skin cells, instead of removing them from embryos.
There have even been reports of bone marrow stem cells altering into liver cells, skin cells into heart cells, and of cord blood possibly generating neural cells.
It is utterly unethical to kill a living human embryo in order to obtain an embryonic stem cell. Stem cells from umbilical cords and induced pluripotent stem cells have shown that we
don’t have to kill human embryos in order to treat diseases. Studies on adult stem cells and stem cells from umbilical cords have now been used to treat those who are suffering from a wide range of illnesses. These treatments are entirely life-sustaining since they do not require human beings to be killed in hope of treating others.
Research has furthermore established that adult stem cells function more efficiently and more carefully than embryonic stem cells! Adult stem cells are able to be removed from the patient, and then re-injected, thus eliminating immune rejection, which has been problematic when using embryonic stem cells. In reality, adult stem cells have demonstrated to be superior
as they don't undergo the problem of rejection.
Can we say that embryonic stem cells are able to cure diseases that stem cells from additional parts of the body are unable to? No! It is not “prolife” to kill one group of human beings in hopes of treating or curing somebody different. The prolife position distinguishes that every single innocent human life, regardless of its size, strength, or location is treasured and worthy of protection. We should use stem cells, however we should not kill in order to obtain
them.
