Close Reading
1. Mr. King states his thesis in the very first sentences, “I think that we’re all mentally ill; those of us outside the asylums only hide it a little better- and maybe not all that much better, after all. Located in paragraph one. Mr. King states that all people are mentally ill but hold it in better then the people locked up in mental wards.
2. Mr. King is references to “jack the Ripper” and “Cleveland Torso”; it supports his thesis very well. If you look at it, he saying people that hided it well can get away with it. Now people that cannot hided it is locked away.
3. He is saying if your pretty out the outside does not mean you are on the inside. People cannot tell the difference from a sick and wrong joke from a normal joke, people do not know when it is right or wrong.
4. The alligator represent the zombies from the dawn of the dead. By saying keeping, the gators fed means if you do not fed the gators then there going to come for you. It’s just if you keep the demoded at bay with some type of food or anything then you don’t have to worry about anything.
