Stereotypes In The Workplace Essay
In my opinion, one of the biggest issues seen in the workplace is misjudging individuals based on stereotypes. According to Block, Koch, Liberman, Merriweather & Roberson (2011) “an individual’s performance can be harmed by the awareness that he or she may be judged on the basis of negative stereotypes” (p.572). I believe that in a business every employee should be judged based on their capabilities to perform the job itself. A business could harm itself by following stereotypes because they would not utilize the potential of their employees. If management limits their employees to certain tasks based on their race, age or gender than the business will not be able to grow and gain new perspectives on different areas.

I believe that the utilization of positive reinforcement can be a great tool to improve productivity within an organization. Positive reinforcement is a tool that enhances performances by giving a reward when a task is completed properly (Wei & Yazdanifard, 2014). In my personal experience, when I know that management has acknowledged my efforts to complete a task I am more likely to make the same effort in the future. It is for that reason that I believe that this tool will make employees feel appreciated that will result in a better quality of work. The reward should only

Management should help their employees achieve a positive job satisfaction in order for their performance to improve (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn, & Osborn, 2014). In my opinion, when an employee has job satisfaction they feel good about their job, they work with a better attitude and they will complete their tasks more efficiently.
