There are stereotypes I fight against as a black woman, and there are some I push against as a baby boomer who has the courage to return not only to college, but online college after 30+ years and pushes against the stereotype that common people my age are set in their ways, and don't do well with new technology. I am also an example of a successful and educated black woman, instead of the lazy stereotype that has been established as the view of black people around the world. I am proud to be an example of black women excelling in education. I am part of a black community of many educated professionals. Some stereotypes even impose that black people are only good for athletics or entertainment. By doing so each stereotype invokes negativity about the group of people the statement is about, yet they are all widely known and used throughout society. Unfortunately, we have all used stereotypes in one way or another even though stereotyping does not create any positive influences for us. The black community still has many high school drop-outs and a high rate of children being born to teenage mothers. Both of those add to the failed education in the black community, therefore bringing truth to the uneducated black people
