Steroids Should Not Be Allowed In Sports
8,851 baseball players have died from the use of performance enhancing drugs (PED) (Almanac 3). Not only are PEDs dangerous, using PEDS would make it unfair for players who choose to stay clean. Steroids are not allowed in any other sport and they are cheating. Cheating is not allowed in anything else so why would they be allowed now? Even though baseball would be more interesting because there would be more home runs, steroids should not be allowed to be used in the MLB nor any other sport because players would get hurt more often, and steroids introduces an unfair competitive advantage which is cheating.
The use of steroids need to stop in the MLB because players could get very badly injured. For instance, “We hear about the lack of quality pitching, the ever-shrinking strike zone and livelier baseballs. But, gee, could it be that some of these sluggers have turned into steroid bombs?” (Buckley 12) This means when the pitchers throw good, hitters would just hit very hard that players call bombs. If hitters hit harder and can see the ball come out of the pitcher’s hand quicker, then the players in the field will get hit at with the ball at extreme measures.
