Steve Jobs Impact On Society
Apple, one of the largest companies in the world, was created by a college dropout. Many people would not assume that a student who dropped out of school would become a CEO of a company, but Steve Jobs defied those odds (“Steve Jobs”). In fact, as a child, “Jobs showed a proficiency in electronics and a thirst for education” (“Steve Jobs”). Due to his willingness to learn and his rigorous work ethic, Jobs was on track to become a very successful businessman. Jobs chose to drop out of college because he acknowledged his self-worth and wanted to change the world. Not only was Steve Jobs an iconic figure who started one of the most prestigious companies in the world, but he also contributed to society in many positive ways. One of his countless contributions includes changing the computer industry. He pushed developers to make computer technology user-friendly, which went on to form one of the largest computer companies in the world, Apple. In addition, Jobs perceived management as an active position, requiring strong negotiating and speaking skills, as well as seeking perfection from employees. His success from this tactic inspired many other managers to use the same style of management. Furthermore, Jobs changed software and the movie business in his other two companies: NeXT and Pixar. These breakthroughs created the operating systems now living on Macs, as well as allowing computer-generated movies to be as prevalent as they are today. Finally, Jobs was selfless while running his businesses and was not in it for the money. This enabled Apple, Stanford hospitals, and the ecosystem to benefit from the money that Jobs did not keep for himself. Steve Jobs left many positive contributions to society.
