Following the refugee crisis in 2015, the controversial artist Banksy made a statement by painting a mural of Steve Jobs at a refugee camp in Calais France. The mural is captioned: “the son of a migrant from Syria.” Banksy here is trying to address the refugee crisis and express how through denying support to refugees we could be denying the world of the next Steve Jobs who happens to be the son of a Syrian immigrant. The use of Banksy to public walls is intended to deliver his political message internationally to the masses. Banksy’s mural provides a strong argument because it meets the criteria for all three points of the rhetorical triangle. It is the shared values and assumptions with the viewer that Banksy conveys in his art which gives him a credible brand name. Banksy verifies all his work on his website where he posts his murals. The Rhetorical Triangle is on the biggest key point to making sure the paper is well round and can be understandable for whom may read it. The 3 key points for the rhetorical triangle are Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. Logos, which is Greek for ‘word’, is where in the essay the author is conveying his message to the audience. It’s where the actual argument comes in for the paper. Ethos, translates to character, which correlates to how well the author established credibility through his/her work. It’s essential that the author can properly convey reliable information so the audience can trust and believe what the writer is talking about. Designers of all political parties, not just the Left, are capable of encouraging positive and negative change in the world. Graphic Designers, Cartoonists, and the Mainstream Media, are all aware of how impactful a strong emotional response can be, especially before a political event or poll takes place. Designers and Cartoonists draw inspiration from the media and social issues and incorporate them into their work. It is especially important that designers conduct more research than necessary to verify news sources and to keep in mind the potential political bias of the news source they get their information from. A picture is not exactly truthful these days and it is important to understand that the media can easily turn a picture into something it is not. Designers should take caution in developing political campaigns that use media stories and images to create more…

A largely popular quasi-anonymous graffiti artist that is supposedly from Bristol, England is Banksy. As his artworks were considered criminal he ensured that his real name was not discovered by the media and to this day remains anonymous. Inspired by local artists and the Bristol underground scene, Banksy initially employed freehand and stencilling techniques to create his pieces but later converted to stencilling entirely after “realising how much less time it took to complete a piece” (Wikipedia, 2008). He used graffiti to “promote alternative aspects of politics from those promoted by mainstream media” (Sewell, 2010) and provided a voice for people affected by political issues that could not express their emotions.…
