In fact, Peterson mentions in his work that “picture-books provide children with role models and clear images that prescribe for the children what they can and should be like when they grow up” (Weitzman et al., 19). Huck has a grim attitude toward people he disagrees with or doesn't get along with. Huck tends to alienate himself from those people. He doesn't let it bother him. Unlike most people Huck doesn't try to make his point. When Huck has a certain outlook on things he keep his view. He will not change it for anyone. For instance in Chapter Three when Miss Watson tells Huck that if he prayed he would get everything he wished for. “Huck just shook his head yes and walked away telling Tom that it doesn't work because he has tried it before with fishing line and fishing hooks.” This tells us that Huck is an independent person who doesn't need to rely on other people.…

This past weekend I saw the movie Brother Bear, it's a new Disney movie and rated G. I have some trouble with the historical accuracy of the film and will be discussing that at great length. Sure it's a children's movie, but does that mean it's ok to disregard historical accuracy? Perhaps the fact that it's designed for children makes it even more important to keep it historically correct, after all children take things very literally. Why shouldn't they be shown facts? There were many historical inconsistencies that bothered me throughout the film. My main thoughts while watching this were 1) where is this 2) when is this 3) how much of this is accurate.…

Joseph Campbell describes a hero’s journey as a cycle where the person is a hero from birth. This holds true for the character of Huck Finn because he fits the description of a hero in the book Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. There are different parts of the hero’s journey that can be applied to Huck, such as the first stage which is known as the Innocent World of Childhood. A stage further on in the journey is the Initiation while the last stage is known as the Freedom to Live. All three of the stages can be used to describe a specific time in Huck’s life.…

The story of the little prince is somewhat comparable to the story of Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. Although the stories are completely original in their own work, both authors have similar mindset. Both stories used the innocence and naiveté of the mind of children. Both stories also shared the same theme that is developed as the story carefully unfolds. Both Alice and the little prince are perfect embodiment of what the child should be. Also, both faced difficulties when they were exposed to the harshness of an older persons’…
