Pi never gives up on hope which helps him to survive in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Hope inspires the will to survive in an extreme environment. As he finds supplies he counts out the days he has to survive with that this gives he hope to live on another day. He reach the realization that there is hope. In A moment of clarity, Pi come to the conclusion that the lifeboat has to be supplied with essential replenishments need to survive.
