Strategic planning has a lot of advantages to it but, at the same time, there are issues/barriers and potential challenges that an organization may face. The tool to the effectiveness of any strategic plan is to find any barrier/challenge and develop a plan to eradicate the barriers. “A strategic issue is a fundamental policy question or challenge affecting an organization's mandates, mission and values, product or service level and mix, clients or users, cost, financing, organization, or management” (Cooper, 2012. p. 185). Every group or unit in an organization is responsible and accountable to every assignment given. The inability of a unit to achieve its goal will slow down the advancement of the organization and this must be analyzed and punished. A task force/monitoring system can be put in place to ensure proper appraisal of all units – through these appraisals, the task force is able to identify and correct all failures in strategic planning process. (Latif B., et, al. 2013).
Change. This can pose a big barrier in the strategic planning process. Change of environment, leadership, and ideas, mission or goals etc. change can come as a result of the implementation strategy process; the individual’s/unit’s ability to manage the shift while still pushing to achieve the vision of the organization will prevent loss of what has already been built and this is significant to effectiveness.
David Oyedepo Foundation (DOF) have experienced a number of changes within the years of its existence – these changes did not pose a threat to its development but it was a stepping stone to a greater height. The change of mindset amongst the workers and volunteers are very paramount to the effectiveness of the change. The ability of the director to foresee the change and organize a meeting to communicate and align everyone to new developments will lead to smooth sailing once the change comes. Also when meetings are held, all under the foundation are to submit a progress report and once there has been a proper analysis done, they can cut losses and
