Strengthfinders Reflection
I always had a difficult time answering the question, what are your strengths? After taking the Strengthfinders online assessment I believe I have a better grasp on how to adequately answer that question. The assessment was able to help me realize more in depth what my capabilities are and what I struggle with. The accuracy of this assessment was spot on, in describing the components that make me up. After taking this assessment I believe it will help me to better myself and how I take on any given task.
I agree with all of my results. Even though, I do agree with my results I had never thought of myself to have these strengths or traits. I guess I really hadn’t thought too deeply what my strengths are, this assessment helped me realize and

I always thought I was just an over thinker and worrier, but it turns out those things can be positive because they help me can difficult decisions and accurately follow directions. Perhaps I need to work on how I deliver those strengths to others instead of just seeming like a non-spontaneous over thinker. All my strengths that I got on the assessment, definitely show me that I am an introvert and that perhaps I need to be more vocal about why I do the things I do or why it seems that I’m always daydreaming.
To fully apply the knowledge of my strengths I need to break my barrier of procrastination and excuses in order to fully reach my potential. I am a deliberative person so making big decisions can take me longer than the average person, so it takes me a while to actually ever start anything because I deliberate for a long time. Think that in order to cut down on that time I’m going to start planning things out on paper and rationally look at the consequences of my possible actions and see what is the best way to proceed.

During my college career, I plan on fully engaging my strengths in any and all assignments, projects, and anything else I participate

This book review is on Strengths Finder 2.0. Written by Tom Rath, this book follows and elaborates on Donald Clifton's Strength Finder assessment created in 1998. Strength Finder 2.0 looks to dispel the outdated belief that only weaknesses need to be improved upon. The textbook Psychology Applied to Work describes this concept as positive psychology, "The aim of positive psychology is to shift the emphasis away from what is wrong with people to what is right with people" (Muchinsky & Culberson, pg. 384, 2016). With that premise on its head, Strengths Finder 2.0 looks to first identify the strengths of others and directs them to improve on what they already do so well. Even though the text can be applied practically, the book really focuses…

When I was in fifth grade, my class talked about lockdown procedures. I was shocked at how little our school could do to keep out intruders, but even more surprised that people involved in school shootings didn’t see the ways around the simple defences. My mind instantly came up with limitless ways someone harmful could get into my school. Of course, I will never do something like a shooting, but it was easy to see ways someone could. In addition, one of my favorite things to do is to read about psychology or a story about someone and then use it to analyze people and ideas. Whenever I am just sitting in a crowded place, I study what people are doing and try to get a better idea of who they are and why they do things. This shows that I have an analytical way of thinking. Going along with being analytical, I also hold back a lot of sharp retorts. Whenever someone says something uneducated or rude, I have to hold my tongue so I don’t offend them. It’s the same way when people use incorrect grammar. These issues and other things, including some things that have happened in my family, have not made it easier for me to keep things back, but I have gotten better at it. This shows my self-restraint. As for being clever, I don’t exactly know, but when I was younger, I could always find a way to get out of trouble and someone else into trouble. I could talk my little sister into anything. Now I try to use this for better causes, like getting good grades or solving a riddle, but the trait is still there. I can usually come up with points and ideas quickly. Although I do have these character traits in common with Doctor Livesey, we are not exactly the same. I consider myself a leader, but not always in a quiet way. I go for it. At times, I am more likely to take an active side in an argument rather than try to end it. In addition, I do not always think before I act like the doctor does. While…

Procrastination is a trait I have wanted to change about myself for a very long time. I always put things off telling myself I will get to it, which leads to years of stalling. My issue with procrastination has hindered me in many ways, one being, applying for college. I believe a fixed mindset has prevented me from changing this trait because I sometimes shy away from change, therefore leading me to feel as though I have time, which prevents me from achieving those things I dream of. From a growth mindset point of view, I would change this by embracing challenges and believing that my life can be continuously…

I was somewhat taken aback with the opportunities part of my results. I did not score as high as I would have liked to score in this section. I scored the lowest in presenting. I scored a 1 out of 5 and I did agree with that because presenting is not one of my strongest things to do although I know I have to work on that as much as possible. I did think that coping with pressure could have been higher but I scored a 2 out of 5 on that. On goal focus, I scored a 2 out of 5 and that made me feel horrible because I have set goals for myself and sometimes I push my goals to the back of my list to accommodate my life or help other people with their goals.…
