Strengths and Weaknesses As a writer, there are things that I do well, but there are also things I could improve on to make my writing better. I’m pretty good at getting my point across, and getting people to understand what I’m trying to say. Another thing I’m good at is just writing the paper. Once I get started on a paper it is very easy for me to just keep writing until I’m done with it. However, when doing this I tend to not use the best grammar and be too wordy with my writing. I can definitely fix these issues, and continue to build on the things that I do well. When I’m writing, whatever I am trying to say or get across to people, is usually understood well by whoever reads my paper. I make valid arguments that make sense and
My biggest issue is grammar. I am not good at using proper grammar when writing at all. I don’t know when to use commas, semicolons, and other things appropriately. I either use them to often in the wrong places, or don’t use them at all and my sentences get very big. This issue kind of goes along with grammar, but I am usually really wordy when I’m writing. I think this is because when I’m thinking of what to write it sounds better in my head, but when I actually type it I go to fast and mess it up. If I slowed down while writing and re-read things, this would really help me with this issue. When I go back and look my papers over, I can find areas that I messed up the first time. Overall, I am not a completely horrible writer. I’m good at getting my point across, and just flat out writing once I get going. However, there is definitely things that I can improve on, as there almost always is in life. My grammar skills and sentence wordiness can greatly be improved, this will come with writing more and looking over my work. I didn’t really write papers until this class, so these issues will also get better as I become a more experienced
