The US education is controlled by the different states, different counties or districts. The national standards were introduced recently. The US department of education came to be in 1979 with its main aim being to manage central government money to deprived schools and combat discrimination(from 1960).The No Child Left Behind Act set the national curriculum standards for schools and a procedure for helping and managing schools that are not doing well.
Education in America faces a lot of challenges including that of parents not being involved enough in their children’s education. Teachers can spend a lot of time with students in class to teach them the curriculum and live teachings but it may nit be enough. The parents help, cooperation and support is needed to tilt the students and support the efforts put in place by the schools and the teachers. The federal government and the state governments have both not increased its funding for years and in fact some have cut funding to some area’s of the school’s curriculum like Arts. This affects the quality of education as the school my not afford to upgrade its infrastructure or technology hence affecting the quality of delivery of education. One way we can sort this out is by creating school stakeholders groups who will be responsible in lobbying the governments both nationally and in states on why schools need more funding. Another way around this problem is by schools diversifying and creating programmes in their schools that will generate revenue to them. This can include having restaurants where the community can buy food, having sports events, plays or selling school merchandise. This revenue generated will supplement the money from the
