This will lead to bargaining for pay and benefits. Some policies will need to be made for the those that are just in the union while others might not be in the union. Another weakness is the fact that the unions have to have dues and an election. The election could take away from productivity. The human resource department will have to be sure that the dues are collected and used appropriately. This could be time consuming and errors can occur.
The strengths to having a union is that grievences between employees and the company can be resolved faster. There is one spokesperson for the union versus all of the employees submitting complaints. The employees will be happy and this creates a good work environment.
An opportunity for the company is that the employees will want to stay with the company longer and that makes the training invested worthy. Employees can grow and pass their knowledge on to others. Another opportunity is that the union and company create contracts about the pay and benefits that can’t be broken until it has expired. This will decrease the number of complaints and lawsuits. All costs towards the employee is predicted so that helps the company create a
