Strikers Motivations For Eating Deodorant
Tim was an odd one. Although he was a friendly guy, there was definitely something off. This became apparent to his hockey team, the Strikers, when Tim ate his signature pregame snack: deodorant. There wasn’t a single game for Tim that began without the consumption of deodorant. When asked what his motivations were for eating deodorant, all he would say was, “It makes me who I am”. Not that he deserved any criticism, but it is safe to say that this was not a normal thing. No one cared though, and that might be because Tim was the best player on the team. No one dared to question him out of fear of throwing Tim off of his game. There was also no questions when it came to Tim’s only rule, and that was that not a soul was to touch his deodorant. …show more content…
To the Strikers nothing was worse than a loss to the Flames. This rivalry began over three years ago when both teams played their first game against each other. Year after year, the teams have competed to prove themselves as the higher skilled hockey players, every matchup more heated than the last. The crowd always saw a good game when they played, and not solely because of the rivalry, but because they were two evenly skilled teams. Although each and every Striker wanted to win against the Flames, the feat of winning the league championship meant a whole lot more.

With the regular season ending and the playoffs beginning, it was that time of year. The Strikers had their first game in the next week and every player in the league was practicing with the intention of being named a champion. While the Strikers had the same intention, there was something more on their minds, and that was the block in their road that prevented them from a perfect season: their loss to the Flames. The Strikers were confident, no doubt, but due to the seeding of the tournament, the Strikers and the Flames would meet again in the league championship if neither team was eliminated before

This was because Tim could not find his deodorant. According to him, he had it waiting in his locker to be eaten fifteen minutes before game time, but the deodorant was nowhere to be found. Luckily, Tim had a backup plan. His parents were bringing him a new stick of deodorant per his request. This brought a sense of relief to the rest of the Strikers and now they could focus on what could be the biggest matchup of their lives. Not long after this, Tim left to retrieve his pregame snack while the players anxiously counted down the last fifteen minutes before game

Since the beginning of time, Canada and the United States were categorized as countries that are the same. Despite being similar in contexts of government, development etc., both are very different in terms of identity. The patriotism of Canadian citizens was demonstrated when 3000 supporters are traveling from around Canada to Moscow to watch the games. Despite the fact that officials in Russia said otherwise, Canadians shook their flag to express that they are Canadian. Moreover, even when Canada lost number five match in Russia, Canadians sang the national anthem to show that they had their back. This devotion to sport was an important factor in the Canadian team victory. Paul Henderson, one of the players on the Canadian team and a Canadian hero, said, "It took an entirely different dimension from our point of view. I would say explicitly that without the 3,000 Canadian fans, I think we did not win the series. They were an inspiration. They were incredible. "Lately, excitement and preparation for the eighth game demonstrated Canada's pride in the…

Firstly, the 1972 Summit Series proved that Canada is the greatest hockey nation ever. “The NHL long regarded itself as the world's elite, but the overwhelming superiority of the Soviet Union in international amateur play in the 1960s led to a dramatic 1972 summit series between Team Canada (Canadian NHL players) and the Soviet national team,” (Columbia encyclopaedia, sixth edition). Tim being the younger brother, lived in his brother’s shadow and admired his brother’s every move, but throughout the story he realized he was as brave as Sam. Tim showed bravery and courage when the tavern was invaded by the rebel troops and his parents were in danger. For example, in the book, My Brother Sam is Dead, it explains how rebel troops were confiscating all weapons from the loyalist, and redding being a tory country, was invaded.
